What to ask your newborn photographer

Having a baby is such an exciting time for parents. Shopping for all the essentials, picking a name for your little one, decorating the baby room. So much to think about!

When considering whether to do a Newborn Photosession, a lot of things might be going through your mind. Let me help you eliminate some of the questions or concerns you might have.

What is the best time to photograph my baby?

The best time is when your baby is between 8 -14 days old. At this stage, they are still very sleepy and we can get those lovely newborn poses. Baby can still be photographed after this stage but some poses might not be possible anymore.

Do you have experience photographing Newborns safely?

This is a very high priority for me. Newborn photography is my specialty and I have done extensive training in newborn safety courses. I have 10 years of experience in working with newborns safely.  I watch your baby very carefully for cues of discomfort and will not go ahead with certain setups if your baby is not comfortable and safe.

What to expect at the session

We’ll go at your baby’s pace, following your baby’s cues for top-up feeds, nappy changes, and cuddles. This is why a newborn session can take so long. I always start with your baby first, finishing with parent and sibling photos. When booking with me, you get a very detailed Welcome Prep Guide to help you prepare for the session.

What to bring to the session?

We will be using props available from my studio collection. So, no need to get anything for your baby, only for yourself. If you have any special items you would like to include you are welcome to bring that along.

What should we wear?

Clothes without much detail, maybe same colour (even different shades) are nice for parents. We want to keep the focus on your new arrival.

Who can be part of the session?

I have different package options. From only baby to parents and siblings included. If you would like to include a Grandmother or other relative please discuss it prior to the session.

What happens after the session?

If you opt in, a sneak peek will be shared on Facebook. Your final gallery will be ready 3-4 weeks after your session. This includes the process of an online proofing gallery where you select your favorites for your chosen package option.

Do you edit/retouch your final images?

All images are edited in my style and to the highest standard.

My baby has bad skin

Don’t worry, most newborns have this. This will be fixed in the post-production process to give your baby that beautiful soft skin.

When should I book?

You can book anytime during the pregnancy. I pencil in your due date and we schedule the final date and time when your baby is born. My newborn sessions take place during the week, Monday to Friday. I have limited spaces each month so early bookings are recommended.

How much does it cost?

I have a few options tailored to suit everyone’s needs. Kindly complete the contact form on my website or send me an email for more information on this.
